1. Yesterday, she became the first female artist at 40+ since Madonna in 2000 to score a number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100, with her current single "Cheap Thrills." Despite her chart-topping hits penned for other musicians, the single marks her first number one on the chart as an artist.

2. She has released thirty-four singles and seven studio albums throughout her career—the first of which was 1997's OnlySee.

3. She wrote the five-time platinum certified track "Diamonds" for Rihanna.

4. Her most recent album, this year's This Is Acting, is composed entirely of songs that she wrote for other artists, but were rejected. The list of artists includes Adele, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and more.

5. Her current Nostalgic For The Present Tour is her first in five years. Her recent shows at Panorama and Coachella were composed of vignettes, the choreography of which perfectly mirrored previously-recorded videos that displayed on either side of the stage while Sia herself stood in the background. Her Coachella set even included a guest appearance by Kristen Wiig, who originally took the stage for Sia's performance of "Chandelier" at the 2015 Grammys.

6. She originally wrote "Pretty Hurts" for Katy Perry. When the singer didn't take it, Rihanna had it on hold—until Beyoncé swooped in and nabbed it.

7. While there is much speculation about her conceptual commitment to not showing her face, the singer has stated that it is simply a tactic to dealing with fame; hiding her appearance prevents criticism about her physical appearance, and allows her to shop at Target without being recognized. It's a tactic she invented after the pop star lifestyle and pressures of the music industry nearly drove her to suicide in 2010.

8. Her and Maddie Ziegler, the 13-year-old dancer she uses to portray her in her music videos and many performances, are best friends in real life—and even have matching BFF necklaces.

9.  She came out as bisexual in 2013, tweeting, “I’m queer. I don’t really identify as a lesbian because I’ve dated predominantly men. But I’ve certainly dated women.” One of said women was Le Tigre front-woman JD Samson. She is now married to American documentary filmmaker Erik Anders Lang.

10. She writes most of her songs in under an hour, often about a singular object or word—such as "Perfume," which she wrote for Britney Spears' 2014 album, Britney Jean.
