On June 12, 2016, a gunman killed 49 people and severely injured 53 others inside Pulse, an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando, Florida. This incident was not only the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman, but also the deadliest incident of violence against LGBTQ people in United States history.

The Human Rights Campaign honored those who lost their lives by releasing a moving video tribute. The heartfelt video features 49 celebrities (including Lady Gaga, Caitlyn Jenner, Demi Lovato, and more) to remember the 49 victims who lost their lives that night, each star sharing a glimpse into that person’s life along with an accompanying photo.

Produced by Ryan Murphy, the 18-minute video urges viewers to support legislation that will ensure LGBTQ safety and equality in every community. “For too long, a toxic combination of anti-LGBTQ hate and easy access to guns has put LGBTQ people at disproportionate risk of violence and murder. On June 12, forty-nine innocent people—most of them Latinx—were killed at Pulse nightclub in Orlando simply because of who they were. It's on all of us to keep their memories alive, and to ensure part of their legacy becomes meaningful action to end hate violence. Join the Human Rights Campaign and urge your legislator to support legislation that will ensure LGBTQ people are safe and equal in every community and find out how to support the survivors and families of the Orlando victims,” the description reads.
