If anyone in the industry is renowned for killer afterparties, it’s Alexander Wang. With the most exclusive guest lists, established DJs and elaborate decor, the designer continually asserts himself as the coolest in the game. Now, in an exclusive collaboration with Apple Music, we can all grab a golden ticket to one of his blowout events. Well, almost.

Wang has debuted three custom playlists for the launch of Apple Music’s Fashion Curator Program. Titled Chill, Hype and Vibe respectively, the mixes take a hip-hop heavy base, with snippets of R&B, soul and trap music spun in for good measure. Though similar in genre, each playlist is intended to set a unique tone: Hype is inspired by the designer’s party bus playlists, while Chill includes wind-down tracks by Rihanna, Jay Z and The Weekend. Unsurprisingly, artists featured on the playlists are close acquaintances of Wang’s, also repeatedly featuring as key vocalists on his runway soundtracks.

The significance of the playlists, however, exceeds the the sparkling realm of high profile parties. Alexander Wang has notoriously used music to capture a moment, portray a movement and overall, compose a mood for a season of clothing. An artist of all forms, the designer is continuously inspired by progressions in aspects both visual and audio, resulting in designs that shape contemporary style to an unmatched standard. Whether it be garage, punk, glam-rock or hip-hop, music has historically formed the basis of Wang’s most iconic ideas —and each playlist aims to emulate a unique string of inspiration.
