The pop singer knocks another one out of the park, but are you surprised?

Los Angeles-based singer—and skillful songwriter—Allie X has been releasing pop perfection for a while now, lending her penchant for hits to Troye Sivan's successful "Youth" off his Blue Neighborhood album. At times, these anthems almost seem like second nature, and that effortlessness floats right into “Too Much To Dream,” a track that plays with the similarities of getting completely wasted and getting intoxicated by your fantasies.

The song premiered today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 as a “World First,” and is lifted off Allie’s forthcoming EP, CollXtion II, stylized as #CLXIIɄ. What that symbol at the end means is anyone’s guess, and the singer isn’t saying. Chances are, much like the “X” that accompanies her name; it’s up for interpretation.

What needs no discussion is the quality of “Too Much To Dream.” Here, Allie sheds a bit of the dark obscurities that sat in the DNA of her early work, and tones down the sky-high vocals she belts with ease. What remains is the clever lyricism and radio-ready melodies, meaning this could be her most successful yet. Has she given into the mainstream? No. Is she coming for the No. 1 spot? Hell yes.
