To put his full effort behind new role at Saint Laurent

As the new Creative Director of Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello has quite a lot on his plate; putting your personal touches on a brand so clearly redefined by your predecessor is not an easy job. The time-consuming nature of Vaccarello’s new venture is exactly why he’s put a pause on his namesake, for now.

This September, during Paris Fashion Week, Anthony Vaccarello, the brand, will not show. On the decision, the designer says, “This adventure has been amazing but I now feel the need to fully focus on this new project.”

It’s all for the better anyways; all eyes will be on Saint Laurent. There, Vaccarello will have to prove himself a worthy contender. Given his previous work and seal of approval from Donatella Versace (the two worked together for years as collaborators on Versus Versace), stepping up to the plate shouldn’t be difficult.

The designer has already begun mapping out his vision for the Kering-owned luxury house, starting with new ad imagery. Released earlier this year, the first taste was photographed by Collier Schorr, and features models in sparse to no clothing. The metaphor there is, of course, new beginnings, stripping something down to it’s original.
