The bare canvas of Saint Laurent’s Instagram has finally seen a flicker of life. Two months after the announcement of his new role as the brand’s creative director, Anthony Vaccarello has teased his artistic vision in the form of two short films. Ghostly and ambiguous, the clips seek to mould new impressions, arriving after the platform was wiped clean following Hedi Slimane’s departure.

The videos are bare and minimalist, shot in black and white, and backed with the clinch of deep, echoing audio. Directed by London-based Nathalie Canguilhem, who has previously collaborated with Vaccarello on his namesake line and Versus Versace, the production is moody and ambiguous. The most striking element, however, is the lack of actual clothing featured. It appears Vaccarello isn’t afraid of stripping the brand down, in all senses, before stitching in his own signature aesthetic. And we must admit, the teasers have succeeded in stirring up curiosity—we can't wait to see what's in store for the French fashion house in the coming months.
