While it has been a full six years since Azzedine Alaïa debuted a runway collection, the magnificent 2017 fall Haute Couture show reassured us all that the prolonged wait was well worth it.

The stellar Parisian presentation opened and closed with Naomi Campbell (a longtime friend of Alaïa's) in an embroidered A-line shearling coat, followed closely by supermodel Karlie Kloss.  The show featured a wide variety of rich textures, both subtle and bold patterns, and interestingly paired fabrics. While the couture collection had hints of the 60's and even folkloric feels in some looks, the line seemed to be largely inspired by contemporary fashion. The couture itself wasn't the only eye-catching aspect of the show: Alaïa opted to wrap the models' hair in a high plastic turban. The conceptual decisions in this show were truly one of a kind, making the presentation especially memorable.
