Today is the release of Baauer’s music video for his Leikeli47 and Novelist collab, “Day Ones.”

The video sees Leikeli47 and Novelist in the middle of a scene that looks plucked out of the American Revolution and dropped into a supermarket parking lot. The video’s message isn’t immediately obvious, but the imagery of gunshots in a suburban setting ties strongly into the swell of racial tensions and violence that permeate the U.S. While that interpretation may read too deeply, it certainly wouldn’t be out of context for a track on an album that sees contributions from around the world, across race, language, and religion. The video is produced by LuckyMe Studios and directed by Hiro Murai.

The track, off the singer’s forthcoming album, Aa, made it’s television debut last month on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” The producer also made a foray into fashion by appearing in Alexander Wang’s latest ad campaign, dubbed #WangGang. Alexander Wang used an unreleased Baauer track, “Temple featuring M.I.A. and G Dragon,” to soundtrack his F/W ’16 show.
