In my opinion, the best thing that happened in 2016 was when the Obama administration established protective guidelines for transgender students at educational institutions that receive Federal financial aid. His statement last May covered a whole range of basic human rights, like being able to use restrooms, locker rooms, play sports, receive housing, and more, all without fear of discrimination. It was a huge step forward for transgender rights, and while I know that the future is unknown with a new administration, I hope that they will continue to support us. I believe that love and acceptance can overcome anything!
