To mark the beginning of NYFW, Refinery29 has opened 29 Rooms, a funhouse that puts you in the intersections of fashion, art, and technology. The Bushwick warehouse is separated into exactly 29 different rooms, each one in collaboration with a different artist, business, or cause, with their own specific purpose and element to draw you in. The wonderland is full of interactive displays, meaningful art installations, and perfect opportunities to up your Instagram game.

This year, alongside innovative rooms in collaboration with Tinashe, RuPaul, and Nicola Formichetti, Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation has its own place in the warehouse. Focusing on the importance of kindness and bravery to stand up for one’s individuality, the cause collaborated with 29 Rooms to create their own sanctuary that gives power to their movement.

Admittedly, each space is small, but the Foundation uses this to their advantage, creating a stark, simple, and intimate area that feels warm and invites you to embrace their message. The room is essentially a blank canvas with the main walls lined with only rainbow lights and two questions: What does a kind and brave world look like? How will you be kind today? The room gradually fills with colorful responses, all pouring with love, acceptance, and the best kinds of humor (shout out to the amazing soul who simply wrote "Beyoncé"). The video booths encourage us all to thank people for their kindness, reinforcing their message that in order to live in an ideal world, kindness should be in the forefront of our minds.

Amidst the enthralling chaos and eye-opening aesthetics of 29 Rooms, the Born This Way Foundation created an open and safe place that reminds us of what is truly important for a modern society to flourish,  and the act of kindness we need to practice in our everyday lives.

29 Rooms is open from now until Sunday, September 11.
