Producer extraordinaire Cashmere Cat has finally put out his debut album, entitled 9, after years of releasing EPs and singles with artists like Ariana Grande. The record sees him team up once again with the pint-sized powerhouse on the incredible “Quit,” but now, he has many artists supporting his opulent productions, letting him climb up to the big leagues.

The producer brings out his extravagant productions into full force on his debut, with his tropical beats stretched into abstract loops and melodies twisted into virtual distortion — yet he manages to make it sound almost serene, with the vocals of his collaborators floating nicely above it all. On songs like intro “Night Night” and “Europa Pools,” the presence of Kehlani and Kacy Hill are minimal at best, but also completely essential, their vocals adding a heavenly element to the proceedings.

Cashmere also aligns with Selena Gomez for the irresistibly bouncy “Trust Nobody,” gives Camilla Cabello another solo opportunity on “Love Incredible,” and links up The Weeknd with electronic wonder Francis and the Lights for twisted indecipherable gem “Wild Love.” But it’s on his one solo track, “Victoria’s Veil,” where his talents shine brightest, with the numerous complexities and fierce intensity of his production completely unobstructed.

At a precise 10 tracks, it leaves you wanting just a little bit more (as a debut album should), but when nearly every track is an immaculately constructed banger, it's difficult to complain. You also can't go wrong by ending with Jhené Aiko's airy pleading vocals on the aptly-titled "Plz Don't Go." Listen to the impressive effort below — you won't want him to leave either.
