Well, this is major. Trip-hop pioneers Massive Attack have released a Cate Blanchett-starring music video for their track “The Spoils” featuring Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star. The video follows their much-hyped music video for “Ritual Spirit,” which saw model Kate Moss in a similarly shadowy environment.

Massive Attack’s appeal has always been in its minimalism, so these stripped-down videos should come as no surprise, but Sandoval’s contributions should (a little). The moody ‘90s icon hasn’t stepped into the spotlight since 2010, and even then it was just as a guest vocalist—for Massive Attack’s hypnotic track “Paradise Circus.”

Here, in “The Spoils,” multi-Academy Award winner Blanchett appears, but never speaks—because if you are Cate Blanchett you don't need words to give an incredible performance. Throughout the video, the actresses image gets replicated in varying materials, taking of differing forms before ultimately crumbling as stone.
