Following Celine’s Winter 2024 collection debut, the house’s newest scent ‘ZouZou’ makes its debut as the latest fragrance in the Celine Haute Parfumerie Collection. Initiated in 2019, the Celine Haute Perfume Collection includes eleven fragrances conceived by Hedi Slimane for the launch of the line. Every scent maintains and upholds the tradition of the ‘Couturier Parfumeur’ and reignites the excellence of French Haute Perfume. ‘ZouZou’ finds its place amongst the twelve total perfumes in the collection, split functionally into scents for the day and scents for the evening with ‘ZouZou’ joining the roster of daytime perfumes.

As with the other perfumes in the Haute Parfumerie Collection, ‘ZouZou’ takes its source from Slimane’s inspiration for his youth-centric focused work and silhouette-shaping photography and designs. In a singular rectangular glass bottle, ‘ZouZou’ distills the image of a young woman with the lively and sylph-like allure of ’60s pop culture icons, aptly calling it for the affectionate and youthful nickname formerly given to the icons that ‘ZouZou’ recalls.

The new fragrance encapsulates these heroines and their carefree lightheartedness in an amber and musk creation. A balmy accord with caramel overtones takes the lead, wrapping around benzoin and tonka bean and creating a chic, neoclassic twist. Patchouli and labdanum underline the ambery and elegance of the accord while musk and vanilla prolong the powdery notes of the trail– a muted signature of Celine creations.

The essence of ‘ZouZou’ is palpable, even in the bottle. The rectangular and black lacquered bottle keeps with the tradition of French glassmaking, maintaining a heavy weight and sturdy figure. The Celine Haute Parfumerie Collection is decorated on two sides with sharp-edged fluting and topped with a faceted black cap, engraved with the Celine ‘triomphe’ emblem. The distinctive minimalism of 17th-century classicism imbues the bottle with the modernity of Art Deco.
