The CFDA has just announced 2016’s Fashion Fund finalists. Unsurprisingly, this year’s competition features a string of immensely talented young designers, each with their own unique quirks on modern fashion. The prestigious Fashion Fund has an impeccable reputation for nurturing talent, consistently producing some of the industry’s leading names. Previous winners include Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, and Proenza Schouler, who were awarded the main prize, whilst notable runners up include the likes of Thom Browne, Rodarte, and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Despite yesterday’s exciting announcement, it’ll be a while before we can add a new name to the CFDA’s list of winners.  From now, contestants will be tasked with a series of challenges, kicking off with a design challenge with Intel, followed by a fashion show this October at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont underwritten by Kate Spade New York.  Of course, alongside the competition’s intensive evaluation, each designer will continue to run their respective brand: business as usual.  However, with a grand $400,000 prize for the winner and $150,000 awarded to two runners up (as well as the coveted CFDA stamp of approval), the rewards are well worth the work.  The finalists are listed below and the winners will be announced at a gala dinner on November 7.
