Never free from controversy for long, rapper-turned-designer Kanye West is in hot water with the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The rapper recently announced the date for his Yeezy Season 5 fashion show, designed in partnership with adidas, which is set to debut at New York Fashion Week on February 15.

Apparently, West did not inform the CFDA of his plans, which has resulted in schedule conflicts with Marchesa and Assembly New York—both of which are booked for the same time slot. The council, who spends months orchestrating the calendar with scrupulous detail, have declared his actions unacceptable.

"Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York fashion week schedule," CFDA president and chief executive officer Steven Kolb told WWD. "Kold continues saying, "As the scheduler of the week, the CFDA works with more than 300 brands to identify appropriate times for them to show their collections and avoid scheduling conflicts. Not going through the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure."

Controversy aside, following his previous Yeezy Season 4 show (which was met with a roller coaster of mixed emotions) Season 5 hopes to see significant redemption for the designer.
