Although it's been on the rumor mill for a while now, Cher has officially confirmed via Twitter (seemingly her chosen platform these days) that a musical about her life will be hitting Broadway sometime in 2018.

We've gotten bits and pieces of info about the musical as it's been in development. We've known for a while that there will be three separate versions of Cher: Babe, Lady, and Star, each representing a different period of time in her life. At the table reading in January, the roles were read by Jillian Mueller, Tony-award winner Lena Hall, and Lesli Margherita, respectively.

However, the cast isn't the only drawing point; the musical has an all-star team behind it as well, starting with Jeffrey Seller of Hamilton and Flody Suarez of Rise as producers. And the project seems to have attracted more than a few broadway veterans: Chris Gattelli of Newsies will be choreographing, Jason Moore of Avenue Q and Pitch Perfect will be directing, and Rick Elice of Jersey Boys will be serving as lead writer. Basically, it's a sure hit.

Cher, who accepted the Icon award at the Billboard Music Awards just this year, seems to be fully on board with the project and its further development. After the January table read, she tweeted her enthusiasm for the show:

Considering this musical will be incredibly autobiographical—it will detail her childhood, her relationship with Sonny Bono and their rise up the charts together, and her transformation into a solo pop icon—we have to say, we may be as excited as she is.
