You recently appeared in a couture story in V. What was it like working with Nick Knight?

The run up to the shoot was nerve racking as it was the biggest thing I had done so far and V being as big as it is I really wanted to do my best. We did about three fittings in the week running up, it was crazy! The actual shoot itself was surreal. Working with Nick is always awesome. He's one of my favorite people ever. It was my first time meeting Jacob K also, whom I love.

Tell me about the clothes.

When I heard it was couture I was so excited! Just the idea of me wearing all those beautiful clothes freaked me out, but it was also an actual dream come true for me. Everyone loves princess dresses. The latex was exhausting to put on and so intense to wear, it was like being vacuum packed in a warm condom. The only think I can compare it to, honestly.

How did your relationship with Nick start?

He found me on Instagram. I went to go visit and then we worked together a couple of times. I love him and I love his studio. It's an amazing group of people. It's really awesome that I have the opportunity to work with them as much as I do. We’re quite good friends now.

And your Beats by Dre project he photographed just came out.

Oh yeah, we shot that two years ago almost. I think it was around my 19th birthday. It was crazy.

Tell me about the shoot.

It was mad. They had me wearing this giant robot arm thing from the '80s. I think it was a really famous piece from some mad video, but it was mental. I think that was the first time I shot with Nick. So it was quite strange. He was jumping around a lot, it was really tiring as well. He is very active without being active.

What are you currently listening to?

Right now I'm listening to Justice a lot. I heard their song "New Lands" at a party and I just can't stop listening to it. And also Placebo, my favorite band. I'm always listening to them. I've been listening to a lot of Metallica recently, I don’t know why. I think because it's cold.

What are three things you could not live without?

Probably my phone, I know that’s terrible. And my mom. And I don’t know, this is kind of new because I just got here. But they have these cake pops at Starbucks and I'm obsessed. I've had one every day since I've been here. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

When you're not working what are you doing?

Just at home, binge-watching Netflix. My best friend is a teacher now, so she can't do the same with me. She is always out, so I either do that or I get a bunch of my friends around and paint stuff, which is really funny when you're drunk and you're painting and there are about 16 other people, you get some real master pieces.

What do you paint?

Anything. I have big pieces of card. One time, Nick had an exhibition in Korea and gave me a small model of the exhibition that they used to plan everything. Then I got all of my friends to paint it and make it really crazy. It was really cool. We were like we should do this on a real scale one. It was pretty cool. There were about 16 people working on it. It took a while.

How often are you in New York?

This is my first time here. It's so exciting. Really strange, I've never been to America before. It's so scary, it's so weird, and I was on such a big plane.

Tell me about your personal style. What's your favorite article of clothing you own?

My unicorn onesie. Without a doubt.

If you weren’t a model, what would you be doing?

I would probably be dancing. If I would have stuck to it when I was younger. But if not, then I would probably be writing. Music journalism. Or just working in music production in some kind of way. I used to do that when I was younger. I used to work a lot as a production assistant. So probably still doing something on that side maybe.

Fashion week is coming up. What shows do you want to walk this season?

The Fenty show. Because I worked with Rihanna back in October for the collection and it was awesome. It was really freaking awesome. So I'd love to do that, maybe HBA or something else, or Alexander Wang because they are all cool now.

What was it like working with Rihanna?

It was awesome. There were about six of us models. And it was when I met this awesome girl called Slick as well. And it was just really awesome group of people and Tim is really awesome to work with as well. It was awesome, it was my first time in Paris, so I was freaking out. It was the best thing ever.

What are you looking forward to most this year?

I don’t know what the hell is going to happen to be honest. But I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new people, seeing a lot of new things, being able to work here—getting my visa. Looking forward to do that definitely.
