Today, we get our first glimpse of Rihanna's role in Fifth Element director Luc Besson's forthcoming sci-fi extravaganza, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Rather, make that roles, plural; according to the director, Rihanna's role cabaret character—seen in the clip below—is just one among 20 that she will take on in the film.

“Rihanna was my first wish," Besson told Entertainment Weekly. "First, because of her voice and the way she smiles and looks and how she expresses herself. Second, because you know she won’t be intimidated on the set. She plays stadiums with 100,000 people. You know that girl isn’t shy about the camera and the crew and all this.”

The singer will star alongside Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Ethan Hawke, and Clive Owen in the space odyssey, which centers around human government agents who attempt to bring order and peace throughout the universe. Watch the teaser below, and the official trailer released today.
