Designer Marc Jacobs is well-known for his cadre of campaign faces, with big groups of iconoclasts for each season, but Spring 2017 sees only one: Frances Bean Cobain. The rock offspring follows in the footsteps of past ad stars like Cher, Bette Midler, Willow Smith, Missy Elliott, Marilyn Manson, and more.

On selecting Cobain for the David Sims-lensed campaign, Jacobs says, "I have always wanted to work with Frances. Her beauty, uniqueness, and strength is something I have long admired and respected." He further recounts their first meeting, at Bar Six in New York City when Cobain was just two years old. The designer is famous friends with Cobain's mom Courtney Love, who has also appeared in past Marc Jacobs ad campaigns.

For most, a campaign like this would launch a strong modeling career, but Cobain is insistent it's only a one-off. She tells Vogue, "I don’t think I’ll be modeling for anybody else for a very long time—this is 100 percent outside my comfort zone."
