Every year in late summer a large community of people gather on a dried lake bed in the Nevada Desert to create Black Rock City. This temporary metropolis becomes the site of a playground for humans of all ages. Forget about the fear of missing out. No other place on the planet has a more concentrated amount of the strange and fantastic happening 24/7. The sense of freedom Burning Man provides creates the perfect platform for artists, engineers, musicians, and performers to display their wildest creations. Things that the default world might not yet be ready for. As the event grows, the fight to keep its archetype does as well.

When events such as this start appearing in pop culture, the masses follow. Some fear the influx may be warping it into something new. One can’t help but notice the Coachella graduates and bucket listers there to consume all that the big-name DJs will provide. Luckily, Burning Man founder Larry Harvey created some basic philosophies to help someone new get an idea of Burning Man’s intent. It’s with these principles that he hopes to spread the magic found in Black Rock to the rest of the world. There are now regional burns held year round all around the globe.
