LVMH has just announced London-based designer Grace Wales Bonner as the winner of its 2016 prize. Judged by a board of industry leaders that includes Karl Lagerfeld, Riccardo Tisci, Nicolas Ghesquière, and more, the organization awards an annual set of prizes to up-and-coming designers, with the overall winner receiving unparalleled economic support and ultimately, golden status.

Despite the calibre of competition being extremely high, as usual, Wales Bonner is certainly deserving of the prize—for which Wales Bonner will receive a 300,000 euro grant, in addition to personalized assistance in career development over an intensive twelve month period. Another winner of note was Vejas Kraszewski, who has walked away with the Special Prize for his namesake brand (click here to read our story on the designer).

The LVMH Prize is among the most respected in the industry, with a track record of producing fashion’s most esteemed designers. Executive Vice-President of Louis Vuitton, Delphine Amault, explains: “The LVMH Prize aims to support young fashion designers. This sponsorship initiative reflects the values of our Group: our designers single out the talent of tomorrow, and they are rewarded and supported through the development of their House. Our ambition is to nurture the vitality and creativity of the fashion world at the international level. As a leader in our sector, it is our responsibility to discover young talents and help them to develop,”
