This Friday, September 9, Lady Gaga will finally release the first single off her forthcoming, as-yet-untitled, album. "Perfect Illusion" sees production contributions from Mark Ronson, Bloodpop, and Kevin Parker, and, by all accounts involved, is going to be incredible.

It's been almost three years since Gaga last released a pop album, 2013's Artpop, with only a Tony Bennett joint jazz album to quell the musical thirst of her followers. The singer began the promotional build-up for "Perfect Illusion" by posting a grid of Instagrams with the track title. Here, she follows the same pattern, breaking up the new art into 9 different images. The art now blankets Gaga's social media channels, and has been confirmed by her team as the official single art.

There is no photographer credited for the work—Gaga has worked with fashion photographers like Inez and Vinoodh, Nick Knight, Steven Klein, and Hedi Slimane in the past on album art. Sleuthing Little Monsters were quick to jump on Collier Schorr as the photographer behind this new album's packaging after Schorr posted a picture of the two together. This single art was not shot by Schorr, though. Update: Andrea Gelardin and Ruth Hogben are credited for the photo. This year, Gelardin and Hogben founded the creative direction company Lobster Eye.

Judging solely on aesthetics, this could be the most stripped down and free we've ever heard Lady Gaga.
