Lady Gaga teams up with BLACKPINK on new track ‘Sour Candy’

Gaga enlist the reigning Princesses of K-pop for Chromatica track

Lady GaGa has teamed up with K-pop megastars BLACKPINK on her new track “Sour Candy”. This is the third release from her highly anticipated album Chromatica. The album was originally scheduled for release early this year but was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. In February, Gaga dropped the lead single ‘Stupid Love’ and, just last week released the instant hit ‘Rain on Me’ with Ariana Grande.

The singer has now teamed up with the Korean girl group BLACKPINK for her new single. The club track starts with Blackpink singing the first verse in English and Korean before Gaga joins them on the bridge and chorus. “I wanted to celebrate them [Blackpink] because they love powerful women like us, and they also wanted to celebrate me, and we had a great time together with this song,” Gaga said of the collaboration. “I was excited to hear them interpret the song in Korean, and told them that the part was so creative and fun.”

In 2018, Blackpink collaborated with Dua Lipa on her song “Kiss and Make Up”. In 2019 they became the first K-pop act to perform at Coachella, and their music video for “Kill this Love” currently has over 800 million views on YouTube. The video also broke a ton of records at the time of it’s release. This collaboration with Gaga is their biggest platform in the west to-date, and fans have been going crazy. The princesses of K-pop are scheduled to release a new album this Summer.
