With the release of her latest music video, Lana Del Rey proves that her aberrations aren’t as bizarre as one might think. In “Freak,” which sees a guest appearance from singer Father John Misty, Del Rey and her crew of women enter into a slow orgiastic scene of (pretty much just) hugging. There is, of course, a one-on-one scene with Del Rey and Father John, but it’s tame in its simplicity, like a scene plucked out of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet.

That moment serves as the soundtrack change to the 11-minute clip. From there, Claude Debussy’s “Claire de Lune” begins, and the Honeymoon singer's band of babes baptise themselves in water. There are subtle allusions to cults here—the most obvious being Del Rey drinking Kool-Aid, a clear reference to Jim Jones's Jonestown, but her's seems less about apocalyptic endings, and more to do with loving freely. If that's the case, count us in.
