Ever the luxury brand to experiment with mediums when it comes to capturing its collections, Gucci will display its 2017 pre-fall line in a new limited edition book. The tome was shot by Derek Ridgers, a music photographer that made his name capturing the punk scene and bands such as Siouxie and The Banshees, The Ramones, and Adam & The Ants. The new collection is named after the first encyclopedia of natural history: Hortus Sanitatis, Latin for "The Garden of Health."

The photographs were shot in untouched historical sites in Rome, ranging from several ancient libraries to Antica Spezieria di Santa Maria della Scala, an ancient apothecary. The book, limited to 1,000 copies, will come encased in a special red cotton pouch emblazoned with a skull and cross bones. The official launch will take place on June 5th at a special book signing to be held at the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum in Paris.
