“You’ll be hearing from me baby, long after I’m gone, I’ll be speaking to you sweetly from my window in the tower of song,” said artist Leonard Cohen, who died on Thursday at 82 years old. The Canadian singer-songwriter dedicated his life to his art, influencing millions and leaving behind a legacy of unity to a generation in desperation.

Cohen is one of the few artists whom continued his craft into his last years. Like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, Cohen remained active in the music scene even in to his old age. His last album, You Want It Darker, under Sony Music, was released earlier this year.

Cohen’s words that tackle love, hate, spirituality are projected to live well beyond their release.

“I did my best, it wasn’t much / I couldn’t feel, so I tried to touch / I’ve told the truth, I didn’t come to fool you / And even though / It all went wrong / I’ll stand before the Lord of Song / With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah.” – ‘Hallelujah”
