Yesterday, Willow Smith released a new self-produced track written as a response to the recent U.S. election results. Titled “November 9,” the track comes as a soothing escape for the anxiety that has permeated the country.

“Take my hand and you will see sadness and anger aren’t everything…Take my hand and you will see suppression and pain are not everything,” she sings on the track. As much as it is a song for the masses, it can be understood as a track for our newly-elected president too, whose divisive rhetoric characterized much of his campaign.

At only 16 years old, Smith is not at legal voting age, but her voice can still be heard (literally). At times like this, great comfort can be found in a beautiful track. Thank you, Willow.
