Maggie Rogers has released the music video for her debut single “Alaska,” the track that left Pharrell speechless. The rapper/producer was leading a master class at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute where Rogers was a student (she graduated this May). The moment Rogers played Pharrell her song and his stunned expressions was all caught on tape, and ultimately went viral. That video ultimately launched Rogers’s career, garnering over 17 million plays of “Alaska” on Spotify already.

The video sees the singer walking through an overgrown field, a natural setting for a track evocative of nature. She’s joined at first by three dancers, and then finally by a whole party of people. As a side note, Rogers does a fab job of making crimped hair look cool again—that is, if it was ever actually cool.

“Alaska” may be the first taste from the burgeoning artist, but it isn’t the last. New music is expected from the artist in the coming weeks.
