Maggie Rogers Shares Nostalgic New Video for "Dog Years"

Few new artists have had the kind of introduction that Maggie Rogers had in 2016. In case you're not familiar with her story, Rogers's debut track "Alaska" went viral this summer after a video surfaced of Pharrell hearing the song for the first time at an NYU master class he was teaching (he loved it, to say the least). "Alaska" now has almost 22 million streams on Spotify, and its music video has over a million on YouTube.

Today, Rogers releases the music video for her second track, "Dog Years"—a nostalgia-laden love letter about growing up that blends the artist's folk roots with her nascent journey into pop music. Set at a summer camp in the woods, the video finds Rogers navigating what appear to be her own memories, affectionately singing to people who appear unable to see her (except for one: her real-life mother, who smiles at her toward the end). The actors' frozen state illuminates Rogers's explanation that the song is about "never having enough time." The video, below, was directed by Zia Anger, and is part of a trilogy with "Alaska" and a forthcoming single.

The new video comes with the announcement of Rogers's debut EP, Now That The Light Is Fading, set to drop on February 17. The release will come just before she embarks on her first tour, the dates of which can be found below, with tickets available for purchase here.
