The Met is known as the Super Bowl of fashion. How do you go about deciding what your look is going to be?

I always try and think about how the theme works personally for me. I have never taken the theme literally, but if a designer dresses me, I go with their vision and suggest touches that are still true to myself.

When was you first Met Ball?

I think it was 2009.

What is the most outrageous thing you’ve seen at a Met Ball?

Outrageous—but in the best possible way—was ‪Rihanna's gorgeous gown for China: Through the Looking Glass. It was incredible!!

Do you have a favorite exhibition?

I have had a few! I loved China: ‪Through The Looking Glass, Model As Muse was fantastic, and, of course, Alexander McQueen's retrospective was amazing.

What do you think about this year’s theme?

I'm so excited about this year's theme. Rei is truly a fashion genius, so I'm really looking forward to seeing her honored by the Costume Institute.

Are you a fan of Rei Kawakubo/Comme Des Garcons?

I truly am—Rei is a visionary and an artist, and the brand is always so undeniably chic.

What can you tell me about your look?

My dress is Brock Collection, which is an emerging American brand, and it has a very traditional style and cut, but is also modern, casual and carefree—which is important to me. My makeup artist, Meredith Baraf, and hairstylist Dominick Pucciarello have worked with me since my first Met Gala and my Victoria's Secret days, so they know me very well, and they know how much I love easy make-up, easy hair, so along with my stylist, Ketevan, we decided to do minimal hair and makeup to play off the dress—not too much, just clean and simple.

What is your beauty routine when getting ready for a big event like this?

It used to be a facial a few days before, detoxing masks or a massage the day of, but now with 2 children, I skip all of that and just have the hair and makeup team come early so we listen to fun music, catch up with one another—do a little gossiping—and open some champagne!

What do you tell yourself before walking onto the red carpet?

"Don't trip" and "Did I turn off my clothes steamer?!"

If you could choose the theme of next year’s event, what would you choose?

I would love an homage to Halston and the '70s disco era. I think that would be fun!!
