In honor of its 40th anniversary, the renowned fashion house unveils a 15-piece capsule and a ritzy series of images in ode to the Big Apple for Fall/Winter 2021.

“When I look back over 40 years, I think about all the amazing memories, energy and fabulous people that New York City has brought to my life and my career,” says Michael Kors. “This collection, and this campaign, is a celebration of the rebirth of city life—of stepping out, finding the joy in getting dressed and making the streets your runway. It’s my fantasy night out in the Theater District.”

Photography duo Inez and Vinoodh capture the returning nighttime vibrancy of New York City. In a glossy campaign fit for the glamorous designs, Kors features a high profile cast of iconic supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Carolyn Murphy, Liya Kebede, Bella Hadid, Adut Akech and Vittoria Ceretti. The supers reign over the eponymous designer’s favorite Midtown Manhattan locales like Broadway’s Shubert Theater, the Booth Theatre and Sardi’s restaurant. The bright lights of 45th street act as a spotlight for the queen of the catwalk herself—a blur of cars rush past Miss Campbell as she commands the lively city street in a glittering silver gown fit only for a woman of her influence. Striking coats and dramatic furs are layered over sequined gowns, dresses and chic trousers for a quintessential selection of night-on-the-town looks.

This collection, Kors makes a toast to his sartorial influence over the past four decades of fashion. Included throughout the campaign are pieces drawn from the MK40 Reissue Capsule, a curated lineup of designs from the illustrious Michael Kors archives. The New York native designer artfully incorporates tech into the line, sewing inside of each piece a unique QR code that reveals the history behind the garment when scanned.

Whether it’s furs, sequins or stilettos you rock this season, one thing is for certain: New York City nightlife will have never looked so good.
