MICHELE LAMY'S HUNROD CELEBRATES TWO YEARS OF DSMNY

This December marks Dover Street Market New York’s second anniversary, and to celebrate, several designers have created exclusive pieces in the store’s honor. For instance, Craig Green has designed a capsule collection, Sacai is offering a patchwork teddy bear, Molly Goddard whipped up some one-off ruffled t-shirts, and Undercover has turned out a selection of DSMNY logo t-shirts and sweatshirts. Michele Lamy, Rick Owen's muse and wife, too, has produced an extra-special something for the retailer’s New York birthday—an earthy gold, silver, and diamond ring that fully embodies her signature dark-yet-decadent aesthetic.

Part of Lamy’s Hunrod range, which she launched in 2014 in collaboration with her dear friend, jewelry designer Loree Rodkin (“Rick found us the name,” Lamy recalls. “I’m ‘Hun’ and Loree is the ‘Rod’.”), the ring is a true treasure, which is apropos, considering its $17,250 price tag.

“I had the chance to discover Dover Street Market New York a few hours before its opening two years ago,” says Lamy. “It was exciting, just like right before a party starts. The building is amazing—the spirit is clever and happy. This place makes you believe in civilization! And our Hunrod is there! I’m very proud to be amongst ‘The Chosen’.”

Given Lamy’s penchant for adorning her hands (the muse famously stacks  baubles up and down her fingers, which are always painted with black henna), it makes sense that she would create a ring. “I’ve always worn rings on my fingers,” says Lamy. “And I have always maintained a certain mood—no dainty little things or statement solitaire diamonds, but rather finds from flea markets, travels, etc. As for my dyed fingers and tattoos, I can’t explain it. It’s instinctive. But I have been doing it for a good 25 years, and when the bronze from the rings stains the fingers, it’s even better.”

No one could ever replicate the bewitching brilliance that is Michele Lamy, but with this limited-edition ring (only five were made), you can get a little taste of her black magic.

Hunrod’s DSMNY anniversary ring will be available at DSMNY’s 160 Lexington Avenue Store, as well as at the e-shop, on December 3
