After a series of uber-successful collaborations with Major Lazer and Justin Bieber that signaled a transition into the mainstream, MØ is solidifying her progression with a fresh offering that’s completely hers. Today, the Norwegian wunderkind premiered her new single, “Drum,” on Radio 1 with Annie Mac, and it’s as anthemic as the title suggests.

The track, co-written with Charli XCX and Noonie Bao and featuring production from BloodPop, sees the artist dabble in tropical house sounds for herself, effortlessly riding atop luscious beats and a subtly manic drop. The lyrics are exactly the lighthearted and warm material we’d love and expect from a MØ/XCX/Bao co-write, uplifting without crossing the saccharine line, and her distinctive vocal chops shine through effortlessly.

“Drum” is the expected first single from her upcoming new album, following her 2014 debut No Mythologies to Follow. Listen to the track below.
