Not all internet empires were founded in Harvard dorm rooms. The upcoming Netflix series Girlboss will chart the fast rise of e-commerce behemoth Nasty Gal, through the lens of its vintage-crazed founder.

"You know how some people flip houses? Well I flip clothes," Sophia Amoruso, played with sassy conviction by Britt Robertson, says in the trailer.

Based on her wildly popular autobiography of the same name, Girlboss will trail Amoruso during her scrappy beginnings in the Bay Area, when she began selling vintage clothing on eBay under the moniker "Nasty Gal" at the age of 22.

As the trailer makes clear, much of her success came from finding genuine vintage pieces at a steal and then selling them online for their actual worth. "Know what your shit's worth because you just got played," Sophia tells one aloof vintage store clerk after nabbing a rare calfskin jacket for a mere $9.

In 2006, her hustle would lead her to found NastyGal.com, which was one of the fastest-growing retailers for the bulk of the decade. In 2016, Nasty Gal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but its imprint remains iconic.

There are also some girl bosses behind the camera. The series helmed by Pitch Perfect creator Kay Cannon, and Charlize Theron's Denver and Delilah Productions is producing.

The first season of Girlboss debuts on Netflix on April 21.
