South Korean director Bong Joon Ho’s second English-language feature Okja will explore “the beauty that can exist between man and animal and also, the horror between them.” The first trailer for the fantasy flick, which will premiere exclusively on Netflix, just hit the Internet. It promises a high-concept premise and another wild role from Tilda Swinton.

The film will center on the titular creature, Okja, an artificially-bred hybrid of a human and an animal. The film’s tension pivots on the dual motives of the lead protagonists: child actress, Seohyun An, as a young girl protecting Okja from being kidnapped by a powerful multinational company and Tilda Swinton as the mad, platinum-blonde scientist who engineered the beast.

Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano and Lily Collins will also star. Oscar winner Erik-Jan de Boer (Life of Pi) will supply dazzling visual effects and the subject matter of the film is in keeping with the director’s past efforts, notably his 2006 Korean creature feature The Host. But admit it, you mostly want to see Tilda Swinton acting crazy and babbling about science.

“I took nature and science, and synthesized,” Tilda exclaims in the trailer, thus achieving peak Tilda Swinton.

Okja, which will be both in English and Korean, will debut on Netflix this June. It is the most recent film to be acquired by Netflix, which appears to be allowing directors more creative liberty and leeway with screen time in comparison to traditional theatrical releases.
