The quintessential 1999 image of model Robbie Snelders in Raf Simons and Mickey Mouse makeup appeared in V0, the issue used to showcase the magazine’s concept to potential advertisers. That image, along with so many others throughout Willy Vanderperre’s career, has come to epitomize youth and subculture in the fashion industry.

The Belgian-born photographer’s anarchic take of fashion and youth has appeared in American Vogue, W Magazine, AnOther, Love, and, of course, V. He has collaborated with fellow Belgian Raf Simons, Christian Dior, Dior Homme, Jil Sander, and Prada.

In a supplement to our 100th issue of V, we paid homage to the legend behind one of our favorite image makers. Now, Red Hook Labs in Brooklyn is hosting an exhibition, Prints, films, posters, and more. The exhibition is an effort to expose youth to the creative industry and will feature over 50 of Vanderperre’s multimedia works.

Red Hook Labs, started by Jimmy Moffat, co-founder of Art + Commerce, is committed to teaching photography and other creative skills to teenagers in Red Hook learning institutions.

Willy Vanderperre: Prints, films, posters and more will run from September 15 through September 25. Check out a few images from the show below.
