Since releasing his debut solo single, “This Town,” last year, Niall Horan went back under the radar to expand his solo repertoire. Now, the first fruit of his labor is finally upon us. The One Direction alum released his second single, “Slow Hands,” and it’s a smooth but stark departure from the soft acoustic melancholy of “This Town.”

The track goes for a more gruff and sensual vibe, bringing a sassy stomp beat and bass guitar riffs to the proceedings as Niall shows off his deep vocal range (while attempting to seduce you with dirty laundry, no less). “I’ve been listening to a lot of early '80s stuff lately and been inspired by that heavy bass and the funky guitar sound,” the singer said in a statement, and that certainly comes through on “Slow Hands.” The track is described as “another flavor” from his upcoming debut solo album, due to be released later this year. While you wait, listen to the new track below.
