Amazon has commissioned Nicolas Winding Refn (the man behind Drive and The Neon Demon) to direct a new crime series for the streaming platform. Too Old To Die Young will dive into the shadows of crime in Los Angeles (Refn’s favorite city setting), and “explores various characters'" existential journeys from being killers to becoming samurais,” according to Variety. We're not entirely sure how samurais play into it, but Refn has incorporated fantastical elements into his works before.

Variety also reports that Too Old To Die Young will resemble Refn’s film debut, the 1996 crime drama Pusher. Ed Brubaker will also join the director as a writer for the series. Brubaker’s past work includes comic writing, for superhero series like Batman, Captain America, and Catwoman.
