Nike recently announced the launch of their Pro Hijab: a uniquely-designed hijab made for Muslim, female athletes.

The special hijab, which is made of lightweight, breathable mesh fabric, will encourage and allow female Muslim athletes to participate in a variety of sporting events such as running and ice skating, as well as increasing performance levels. In a statement, Nike said that "The Nike Pro Hijab may have been more than a year in the making, but its impetus can be traced much further back, to an ongoing cultural shift that has seen more women than ever embracing sport." The hijab has been able to meet the timely demand of the rise of muslim, female athletes partaking in the professional sports field.

The brand notes that the inspiration to launch the new hijab was additionally influenced by Emirati olympic weightlifter Amna Al Haddad and Saudi Arabian olympic runner Sarah Attar. Nike is no stranger towards pushes for inclusion as they have recently launched and fully embraced their latest Equality campaign which supports the notion that, "If we can be equals in sport, we can be equals everywhere." The Equality campaign also engages well-known athlete spokespeople and commits to volunteer and mentorship programs for youth. Additionally, just last week, the brand launched a plus-size line extension for women in their sportswear collection.

The Nike Pro Hijab is set to launch in the spring of 2018. See the first images of the Pro Hijab below.
