Novel Romance

Text: Sarah Cristobal

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Lancôme has partnered with designer Olympia Le-Tan (she of the ever-popular book clutches that regularly sell out on Net-a-Porter and the like) on a run of 100 minaudières with hand-stitched mise en abyme covers—each of which takes 18 hours to make—touting the beauty behemoth’s signature lippy. Le-Tan, a voracious reader with an affinity for pinup-girl style, personally picked the box’s contents. The six Rouge in Love lipsticks and equally bright Vernis in Love varnishes are both available in updated shades, in honor of each line’s first anniversary. “I think Rouge in Love is a very good book title, it’s very romantic,” says Le-Tan, who cited vintage Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar covers as her design inspiration. “I want this to be used as a makeup box, and you can also take the things out and use it as a bag for evening.” What’s not to love?
