It feels like summer started late this year, but it's here at last—musically speaking, anyway. In addition to Calvin Harris's beach-booming fifth album and Jay-Z's Tidal storm, Parson James has teamed up with Hook N Sling and Betty Who on a new track that's as irresistibly catchy as it is honest—just in time for the warm weather.

The beat of "If You're Hearing This" may transport you to Ibiza, but the words strike a deeper chord. "We all wanna believe, wanna believe in something/ Cause if we believe in nothing, what do we have?" James sings on the opening line, before being joined by Betty Who. The lyrics go on to mirror the same format of that first question: "We all wanna be loved, all wanna love somebody/ Cause if we ain't got nobody, what do we have?"

All in all, the song feels like the next sonic step for James, bridging his wide range as an artist—a merger of his EDM sensibilities (who could forget his "Stole the Show" debut with Kygo?) and his own, soulful (and soul-searching) work as a solo act, including his Temple EP.

"If You're Hearing This" is now streaming on all major platforms. Watch the lyric video below.
