Images have surfaced of Penelope Cruz on set, all dolled up as Donatella Versace, the current ruler of the Versace empire and sister of the late Gianni Versace. Versace: American Crime Story is the third installment of the FX series, after People V. O.J. Simpson and the forthcoming Katrina, which will follow the tumult of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. Katrina and Versace will both air in 2018. All are executively produced by Ryan Murphy, of American Horror Story fame.

Versace: American Crime Story is currently filming in Miami and will have a ten-episode season. It follows the build up and aftermath of Gianni Versace’s 1997 assassination. It will be based on the book Vulgar Favors by Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth.

For the role of Donatella, Penelope Cruz seemed a strange casting decision to some, back in April, but these pictures confirm our highest hopes. Cruz rocks Donatella’s signature blonde locks, arched eyebrows, and plump lips, and looks great while doing it. Edgar Ramirez has been cast as Gianni Versace; Darren Criss stars as Andrew Cunanan; Ricky Martin will play Versace's lover Antonio D'Amico.

People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story received 22 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations in 13 categories and won 9, more than any other show, and scored three Golden Globe Awards. If you’re looking for motivation to get through 2017, look no further than the next two installments.
