Having just released their latest EP, Brand New Moves, in August, Hey Violet is back at work creating a dark and dreamy music video for their most recent single, “Guys My Age.”

In pink and purple hazy hues, the LA-based rock band jams in front of a retro looking diner and convertible car accompanied by pops of fluorescent lighting. Lead singer Rena Lovelis is a dark pop fantasy wearing metallic attire and sporting messy pink hair while crooning about the troubles of dating immature guys. “We created a dream-like pastel fairytale sequence that we wanna get lost in late at night,” Hey Violet puts it perfectly.

The group, made up of Rena and Nia Lovelis, Casey Moreta, Iain Shipp, and Miranda Miller, is truly reminiscent of an early No Doubt, a comparison not easily earned, but too obvious to ignore. As Gwen Stefani moves further towards mainstream pop, the band perfectly fills the alternative rock-meets-pop void. There is, then, no doubt (excuse the pun) that Hey Violet are going to have quite the 2017—2016 is already shaping up quite nicely.
