If you’ve been wondering where Kita Alexander went just as she was about to make her mark with singles “My Own Way” and “Like You Want To,” know that a lot has gone down since. The up-and-coming musician ended up falling in love with pro-surfer Owen Wright and had to take care of him when he suffered a major head injury, before having their first child when he recovered. She also had to deal with the tragic death of her sister Natassja Claire. But now, she’s making her return to the music world with a new EP, Hotel, created in dedication to her sister and the loved ones her family has lost.

Hotel consists of three tracks which remind us of Alexander's natural talent. "A Girl," "Damage Done," and the title track all mesh luscious synths and groovy melodies with her soft and sweet voice, making for a little slice of relaxing pop paradise. It's very fitting for the Australian sensation and the beautiful climate she comes from. Alexander also included the rough demo of "Hotel" to give us an insight into her creative process and show us how the song came to be, highlighting the emotional message of grief and acceptance that underlines the bubbly production.

Of the track, Kita said "I have this place inside of me which I usually keep locked shut and buried deep. It has always scared me to think what will come out if I opened it. At the time when I was to write Hotel, my partner lost a loved one. The only way I thought I could help was to dig up that feeling inside of myself and unlock the emotions that I had tried bury 3 years ago when my sister passed away. This song is dedicated to my friends and family and everyone else who has lost someone to the other side or lost a loving relationship. It's written as a beacon of hope that one day we will bump into them and see them again down the line in this adventure of life and the next one we call death."

The EP is officially released tomorrow, May 5, but you can get your exclusive first listen below.
