The real soundtrack to your summer, or at least its end

In 2016, a stamp of approval from producer Felix Snow means your track is sure to be a hit (see Kiiara's "Gold" and anything by Terror Jr). This, of course, rings true for the latest act to emerge from the EFFESS Records labs: Guard, whose proper debut "Raincoats" premieres exclusively on V.

Like many a Snow-produced track, the radio-ready EDM elements of "Raincoats" are obvious, but there's something antithetical about their execution. The song taps into a growing post-Millennial feeling of disillusionment—hard-earned success seems like a thing of the past, and worldwide popularity is just an Instagram account away. Can that really all exist in a song? Yes.

Though it's winter in Guard's current home country of Australia, "Raincoats" plays out lyrically like a final toast to the summer flings that never quite make it to fall. There's little more information readily available about the singer, except that he's currently a lifeguard (super chill) and was born and raised in South Africa—an upbringing reminiscent of singer Troye Sivan.

Sure, some prying questions, or a determined sleuth around the Internet may yield some more details of Guard's past works, but for now the music speaks for itself. As an introductory track, you can't get much better.
