The ladies are back! Following the release of their new single “Smile More,” dubbed Hottest Record in the World by Annie Mac yesterday, Deap Vally premiere its music video, exclusively on V.

It’s been almost three years since the duo, Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, dropped their debut studio album, Sistrionix, and has since toured with the likes of Iggy Pop, Peaches, and Marilyn Manson. “Smile More” comes off the freshly announced album FEMEJISM, due September 16, and includes production by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The video, directed by Nina Ljeti and filmed entirely on an iPhone, plays out like a documentary of L.A.’s diverse neighborhoods, which parallels the songs central message: screw your sexism, ageism, slut-shaming views—embrace your differences. The track title, of course, is lifted from every sexist males favorite phrase: “You should smile more.”

On her video, Ljeti says, “What I love most about 'Smile More' is that the lyrics and message resonate with people of all backgrounds and walks of life, who are fighting for what they want and believe in, despite social opposition. I wanted to compliment the universality of the track by shooting people around L.A. who, to me, embody this message. I chose to shoot on the iPhone 6s because of the freedom and accessibility it provides for a candid, doc-style piece.”

Oh, and if you watch closely, you’ll catch a cameo of Edwards’ baby!

FEMEJISM is due this September on Nevado Records.
