'Saturday Night Live' Takes on the Pepsi Ad

'Saturday Night Live' Takes on the Pepsi Ad

A parody of a parody.

A parody of a parody.

Text: William Defebaugh

Last week, Pepsi released a tone deaf commercial starring Kendall Jenner that somehow attempted to sell soda by co-opting various protest efforts underway in Trump's America. The since-revoked ad was met with a rightful uproar on social media, leaving many wondering what on earth could have led to this commercial being made—and whose idea it was. Leave it to the folks at Saturday Night Live to explore this question further, with a parody during their latest episode (the original feels like a parody in and of itself, but alas). SNL's version follows the director in the minutes leading up to the commercial shooting. Watch for yourself below.
