After a wave of Stranger Things fever swept over the Netflix watching nation, there’s no surprise that the popular thriller series was renewed for a second season. Nonetheless, the excitement surrounding the premiere is overwhelming, especially with the addition of three more characters.

Linnea Berthelsen, a relatively new face, is set to play Roman, “an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab…” as described by Netflix. Paul Reiser, of Whiplash, is going to play the role of Dr. Owens, “a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a ‘clean-up’ assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year.” Finally, Sean Astin, of The Goonies and The Lord of The Rings series, has been cast as Bob Newby, “a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.”

In addition to Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery joining the Hawkins crew as a brother-sister pair this past October, the core returning cast includes Eleven, Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, Mark Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, and Will Byers.

As the character list expands, so does our curiosity for next season’s plot. With the exact release date still up in the air, we eagerly await the Netflix debut in 2017.
