Last night, members of the fashionable elite flocked to London for the British Fashion Council’s annual British Fashion Awards, the prestigious ceremony that offers a look into the accomplished past and promising future of the greatest designers, image-makers, talents, and models working in the field today.

Vogue’s Anna Wintour presented Karl Lagerfeld with an Outstanding Achievement award to commemorate his decades worth of contributions to fashion design. Similarly, photographer and frequent V contributor, Nick Knight was awarded the Isabella Blow Award For Fashion Creator. Knight’s recent work includes a video  presentation of Tom Ford’s S/S ’16 presentation that features Lady Gaga covering Chic’s “I Want Your Love.” The pop star was in attendance last night to accept Ford’s Red Carpet award, presented by fellow film star Lucky Blue.

Emerging Womenswear and Menswear Designer honors went to recent Central Saint Martins graduates Thomas Tait and Grace Wales Bonner, respectively. Another new name to the BFAs was Alessandro Michele, who took home the year’s International Designer award. Michele took over the reigns at Gucci earlier this year, following Frida Giannini’s departure, and has since redefined the brand’s aesthetic to critical success.

The ceremony’s standout moment was the surprise appearance of Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, who presented Stella McCartney with her Brand award in character as Absolutely Fabulous’s Patsy and Eddy.

V girls Gwendoline Christie and FKA twigs both received British Style awards, with Christie taking home the title of Red Carpet Ambassador, and FKA twigs Fashion Innovator.
