For the habitants of East Cairo, fashion is often an impractical luxury that tends to hold little value in society. The city’s notion that clothes are purely for necessity is approaching a new dawn as burgeoning designers are beginning to radically shift perceptions with inventive fashion concepts. Newcomer and designer, Dana Frid, is among the select few who has been able to break out of her traditional confines and pursue her quest for creating bold designs.

At the age of 17, Frid began her creative journey when she started scouring fashion blogs, Tumblr, and masterfully learning online design tips. Despite receiving little to no support from her friends and family, Frid persisted and started the workings of devising her own graphic slogan-inspired line. Her can’t-miss designs infuse the best of cheeky designer phrases and hand-drawn florals that are imprinted on hoodies, t-shirts and even pants. A handful of striking mainstay pieces from the line can be found emblazoned with “Versace”, “Gucci” and “Dior” or humorous phrases that read, “Die For Dior” and “I See Both Sides Like Chanel.”

With the fashion industry, completely transfixed with her playful designs Frid has plans to expand the line outside of tees and hoodies. But, while we wait for the designer’s next phase of design evolution you can purchase her cult-classic pieces from her via-email. Click through and score the pieces that will have everyone talking.
